Visualizing The Perspective
By Soyeon
Modern society is changing at a rapid rate with the help of developments in various media. In the past, the mere expression of one's thoughts and documentation themselves could have been considered as outstanding ways of communication, but in modern society, these two methods by themselves have become an impractical way of conveying wide arrays of emotion. Especially, visual art which definitely stands out with regard to the effectiveness of communication, enables the viewer to feel with all his or her senses. Among visual art, the human form draws interest, due to its ability of vividly expressing human emotions.
This artwork displays a smooth but rough skin color, like the gray light that is purely expressed by cold concrete, and breaks the solemn face with no alternations. The incessant flow of eyes and visual stories that hover around as if to wrap around the body part underlines the main theme. Repositioning of their spaces and exaggerated size and qualities become the artwork's beauty, which maximizes the visual conveyance.
The artwork contains a message about 'sympathy' and 'emotion.' The tangled lines can be interpreted differently by each person. Another thing to pay attention to in this piece is the broken boundary of the human parts, which originally should remain in its rightful place. Also, the repetitive lines connect extensively, frequently cross over these boundaries, and fully fill the spaces. This begs the question as to from what perspective the visually unfriendly expression of the pieces should be viewed. Perhaps they are trying to converse with one another through some logical system and deeply involved connection.
